【ww.polyurea.cn, 2012-02-08news】The Society for Protective Coatings, SSPC GreenCOAT 2012 was held in the warm sunshine resort at the Tampa Convention Center from Monday, Jan. 30, to Thursday, Feb. 2. Bill Shoup, the executive director of SSPC made the opening ceremony. President Robert P. McMurdy addressed his welcome speech. He said: It is my distinct privilege to invite you to join me, as well as hundreds of your colleagues, at SSPC 2012 featuring GreenCOAT this winter in Tampa, Florida. SSPC 2012 is the only show in North America that is 100% focused on protective, marine, and industrial coatings. From coatings formulation to application, from spec writing to inspection, and from abrasive blasting to waste disposal, the SSPC conference covers every aspect of the coatings project-from start to finish. No other event provides the depth and quality of content relevant to the process and practice of the coatings professional. With a renewed energy and sense of purpose, SSPC members are bringing new ideas, new products and new technology to the forefront-and they are choosing SSPC’s annual gathering to showcase their progress. Over four days in early 2012, coatings professionals will meet to learn from their peers, network with suppliers, and uncover business opportunities. Whether you are a contractor, consultant, inspector, engineer, supplier, or end-user, you are sure to return from the event having gained new knowledge that you can put to work right away.

There were four papers on polyurea and thick film coatings track. They are:
1. Mr. Dudley J. Primeaux of VersaFlex Inc., Drinking Down Under: Great idea, Second Thoughts, The Right Path.
2.Prof. Weibo Huang of Qingdao Technological University, Polyurea Great Wall: Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway Polyurea Protective Project. See details at www.paintsquare.com/archive/?fuseaction=view&articleid=4576.
3. Mr. Ernst Toussaint of Sherwin-Williams Co., Polyurea Applied Over 30 Gage Galvanized Flashing.
4. Mr. Paul Wiggins of Albemarle Inc., New Development in Aliphatic polyurea Coatings.
Note: Polyurea Great Wall: Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway Polyurea Protective Project is the largest one since the invention of polyurea in 1986 in the world. It is 1318Km in long and 10 meters in wide. Total areas is over 12,000,000 square meters. Prof. Huang was invited as the chief scientist by the Ministry of Railway of the People’s Republic of CHINA to draft the technical guideline, training text book, instruction and troubleshooting manual during its construction from Nov. 2009 to Nov. 2010. Ms. Karen A. Kapanis, the editor in chief of the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings, JPCL, gave a highlight comment on Prof. Huang’s group. More than 120 companies show their state-of-the-art instruments, equipments, products and service.
